For Grown-ups -I encourage you to watch the interactive read aloud videos with your child and use it as an opportunity to practice listening comprehension. Talk about what the book is about. Choose one or two talking points, such as discussing the main events and details. Listing characters, setting, and problems that the characters encountered. Encouraging children to reflect on reading and discussing the text promotes understanding of themes and messages in the book. It also helps children make connections between books and their own experiences (Gainsley, 2020). These post reading discussions can be quick, but are very effective in building reading and listening comprehension skills.
